    SPECIAL AWARDS:

    Grass Roots – Roz Jones
High scoring Pitts – Bob Buckley

The results for the 2002 Aspen Leaf Acro Challenge, held the weekend of September 7-8 in Sterling CO, appear above. We had 25 pilots, all of whom completed three flights by 12:30 pm on Sunday. The weather was very cooperative, although quite hot on Saturday, and there were some interesting winds aloft on Sunday. Congrats to the winners, and a big "thank you" to everyone who makes a contest work!

A few anecdotes: Prior to start of the contest, Clyde Cable received the "Bondo Award" for his exemplary management of a defective airplane at the previous Sterling contest Rick Bobbitt is now seeking sponsorships from bottled water suppliers -- the next time you see him, be sure to ask him why.

    Sportsman
Hana Teissler says she's done flying Primary, moving to Sportsman.  Good luck, and have fun!! Ditto for Paul Reader, who finished up an illustrious year in Sportsman. Hats off to Tom Bullington for his persistence in mastering the Sportsman sequence -- in real time, as it were.

    Advanced
Congrats to Jerzy Strzyz who came all the way from Calgary Candad to compete with us. He took home first place in Advanced. (Hey, wasn't this guy flying Intermediate at the start of the season!?)

    SPECIAL THANKS TO:
    CD: Clyde Cable
Chief Judge: Roz Jones (Sportsman, Advanced, Unlimited)
Chief Judge: Mike Jones (Primary, Intermediate)
    Volunteer Coordinator: Jinny Field
    Registrar / Scorer: Mary Stoops
    Airport Manager: Pat O'Brien
